Getting Married in Greece from Australia: What Brides Need to Know
Planning a destination wedding in Greece from Australia is an exciting experience, but it often comes with additional logistics to consider, from coordinating suppliers across time zones to preparing for warm Mediterranean weather.
Many of my destination brides are based in Australia and travel to Greece for their wedding celebrations in Athens or on the Greek Islands. Understanding how your wedding morning will run and preparing your bridal beauty plans in advance can make the entire experience feel more relaxed and enjoyable.
PLANNING YOUR BRIDAL MAKEUP FROM OVERSEAS
When planning your wedding from abroad, one of the most common questions is whether a bridal preview is necessary before travelling.
While I usually recommend a trial where possible, I understand that this isn’t always practical for destination weddings. In these cases, we can arrange a video consultation to discuss your wedding day vision, inspiration images, and how your look can be adapted to suit Greece’s climate and your individual preferences.
For brides who prefer to have a preview before departure, appointments are typically held on Thursdays at your location.
CONSIDERING GREECE’S CLIMATE
One of the biggest things brides don’t always take into account is how the Greek climate can influence their bridal look.
A heavier glam style or structured Hollywood waves may feel beautiful initially, but can become uncomfortable in warm conditions throughout the day. When planning your bridal look for Greece, it’s often best to consider softer makeup styles, relaxed waves, or upstyles that can better withstand heat and coastal conditions while still looking elevated and timeless.
Taking care of your skin in the lead-up to your wedding and staying hydrated will also help ensure your makeup sits smoothly and lasts throughout the celebrations.
WEDDING MORNING SCHEDULING
One of the most common challenges with destination weddings is coordinating the wedding morning timeline.
Greek weddings often have later ceremony times compared to Melbourne due to the summer heat, however preparation schedules can still vary depending on your venue access, photography requirements, and travel between locations.
To help ensure everything runs smoothly, I provide a wedding day questionnaire in the lead-up to your booking. This allows me to assist with scheduling and ensure enough time is allocated for each service, helping create a calm and organised start to your day.
WORKING WITH A DESTINATION MAKEUP ARTIST
For weddings within Athens, I am based locally during the European wedding season, allowing me to support destination bookings on the ground.
For weddings taking place on the Greek Islands, I travel to your location and arrange accommodation independently as part of your destination bridal package, meaning you won’t need to coordinate supplier travel logistics.
